BAEconomics’ Managing Director, Dr Brian Fisher, gave a talk at the University of Sydney today to students, faculty staff, university alumni and the general public about the role of agricultural economists in influencing policy outcomes. Dr Fisher emphasised the positive spillovers of investment in agricultural R&D, the fact that Australia continues to underinvest in R&D and, in particular, how it has tended to underinvest in R&D designed to enhance Australia’s export competitiveness. During his talk, Dr Fisher highlighted the major contributions made to policy analysis by the late Professor Keith Campbell and the late Dr Bruce Davidson, both previously members of the Faculty.
